A native of Toronto, Canada, Sann Sann Lam obtained her BA, Studio Specialization from the University of Waterloo, under the teaching of Tony Urquhart, followed by studies in architecture and a BA, School of Interior Design from Ryerson University, Toronto. After a period in the interior design industry, Lam resigned to realizing that her passion and spark lies in painting. As an addition to her practise, she received her artist educator certification from The Royal Conservatory (formerly “of Music”) pursuing a desire to inspire and lead children and adults through the arts in the pursuit of learning and discovery.
Lam sees her art as a process to create abstract works that articulate and examine life’s experiences and observations. The threads that tie all her collections together are colour, light, movement and action, demonstrating various techniques that frame the desired affects of process and resolution. Vibrancy, positivity, hope, contemplation, resiliency, and tenacity are the traits that she hopes to instil in her viewers as she expresses herself through her work.
Lam's work has been featured in ‘Style at Home’ magazine, on various HGTV interior design episodes and acquired by the Government of Ontario’s Art Collection Archives. Her art is held in various private and commercial collections in Canada, USA and Caribbean.
Sann Sann now lives in Exuma, The Bahamas with her husband. You can find her continuing her art practise in her studio in George Town.
